Leaders' Time Out
The learning environment is under the influence of various factors. The school needs to provide a conducive learning infrastucture, the teacher needs to make his/her teaching suitable to the aspirations of the stakeholders in the education parlance, the parents need to provide their children with the required items and the government needs to make available the necessary superstructure.
But what does the learner needs to do. He/she must come prepared. This means he/she must be motivated to learn. As simple as this is, the teacher also has a role to play in ensuring that learners are adequately motivated. Most times, teachers are accomplished motivational speakers. So we set a target. 'If your group comes first in this challenge, your group will go out with the teachers'. Team integrity won, and the following week we visited a nice park.
Their excitement was not only contagious but also intoxicating. We played, danced, learned, and ate. They confessed to being motivated to learn more. It is fun to work with motivated kids.
