Trinity College, Barnawa GRA
Young persons are our future. Whatever we do today will impact on them tomorrow. To acheive the Sustainable Development Goals, therefore, young persons must be brought into the loop. This was the thrust of the Dean Initiative that brought World Largest Lessons to the doorstep of our schools through the dexterity of youth volunteers.
My activity as a volunteer coupled with my passion to inform young persons on the SDGs brought me to Trinity College, a serene co-educational school in Barnawa GRA, Kaduna. We saw a video on climate change. We also discussed 'What is on my plate?'. Thereafter, we held a chat session on what young persons can do to ensure that Nigeria attains quality education and sustainable development. The responses were eye-opening.
After 60 minutes of fun-laced activities, we came up with a beautiful country diagram. Moreover, each participant committed to playing his/her part in ensuring that Nigeria achieves the goals especially the one on gender equality. 26 young persons took part in the session. They had to sacrifice their break and sport time for the session. It was an experience I will always remember.
